Being organized is like a meditation for the home. When you are organized you have more time for the better things in life. You are relaxed and ready for all the joys and challenges of each day. This organization includes proper closet design and kitchen drawer storage, and cabinetry that addresses your needs precisely. When it comes to entertaining, when you have a curated selection of plates, glasses and table and barware at hand that all work together with your décor that makes for more beautiful and spontaneous entertaining.
TABLETOP DESIGN
I call this “entertaining mise en place”. Mise en place (MEEZ ahn plahs) is a French term meaning everything in its place. This phrase is used in the restaurant world, which I adore and follow, and refers to having all your ingredients measured, cut, peeled, sliced, grated, etc. before you start cooking. Pans are prepared. Mixing bowls, tools and equipment set out. It is the technique chefs use to assemble meals so quickly and effortlessly. And so I concocted this idea of “entertaining mise en place” a way of selecting, organizing and gathering everything you need to entertain easily and often, with style and grace.
